Have you fallen behind on your nerd news? Don’t worry; we’re here to help! Here are a few stories to bring up at the water cooler this week:

Thor: The Dark World opened overseas this weekend to huge numbers. In fact, with its $109.4 million haul, it helped Disney break $2.3 billion for the year and push their foreign box office total to a new record. So far, the film has made its most money in the UK with $13.4 million, but we’ll see where that stands after it opens in other major markets including the United States and China this weekend.

In other Thor-related news, it was announced Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD will be doing a crossover episode with the movie. After the Thor sequel is released in America on November 8, the November 14 episode of the show will continue where the film left off. Jonathan Frakes, AKA Riker from Star Trek: The Next Generation, will direct it.

Hackers have discovered special files that make up Pokémon X & Y and have revealed three new mysterious Pokémon. The characters are called Diancie, Volcanion, and Hoopa and are not available in the game quite yet. And who knows if they’ll ever be – the Pokémon Company flip-flopped on their answer on whether they actually exist. Time will tell if these are legendary Pokémon or “event Pokémon,” typically only available at promotional events like film releases.

Nintendo Letterbox on 3DS has found its feature called SpotPass (also called Swapnote in some regions) suspended because users were exchanging friend codes on message boards and then using the service to share what Nintendo deemed to be “offensive material.” Because a number of these users are minors, the company found it best to stop the service. SpotPass was a free 3DS app that allowed users to send and receive handwritten notes and photos.

News has come out the new PlayStation 4 will not support external storage. In other words, this means USB drives, external hard drives, and the like will not help with space issues. Instead, users can upgrade the system’s internal hard drive, which can support up to 160GB or more, as long as they are not thicker than 9.5mm. On the other hand, the Xbox One will have external storage support, but will not give users an internal upgrade option.

Nintendo’s Video app is now offering five new comedic shorts. The titles include The Legend of Zelda: The Misadventures of Link, which explores a funnier side of the character, and Pikmin Nature Documentaries, a fake documentary series that examines the Pikmin in their natural habitat. Other shows released are Wildheart RiuKiu, Bravest Warrior (from Adventure Time’s creator), and Bee and Puppycat. Other videos will continue to be released throughout 2014.

The first details have been released about The Walking Dead: The Game’s second season. The game will continue with Clementine’s story and players will be able to see what it feels like to be a child orphaned in the zombie apocalypse. The game will include five episodes and run through 2014. It is currently available for pre-order on Steam for $22.49 where PC users can get a 10% discount. The game will be released on Mac/PC, Xbox 360, Playstation 3, and iOS later this year, with additional platforms to be announced in the future.
