Have you fallen behind on your nerd news? Don’t worry, we’re here to help! Here are a few stories to bring up at the water cooler this week:
It has been announced that 2K Games and Gearbox are teaming up with the Academy of Art to give students the opportunity to make a Borderlands short film. Students will submit storyboards to Gearbox and whichever story they, 2K, and the school pick will be turned into an animated short film due out at the end of the year. Additionally, Borderlands 2 will be getting a few new features. The new Vault Hunter has been revealed at PAX East and will be the game’s sixth playable character. Also, a new upgrade pack, called the Ultimate Vault Hunter Upgrade Pack, will raise the game’s level cap from 50 to 61 and will be released April 2.
Final Fantasy X and Final Fantasy X-2 will soon be getting an upgrade. The games are being remastered in high definition and will be released in Europe later this year. They will be bundled together on one disc for the PS3, but will come separately for the PS Vita. Both games will be based on the international version, and since X-2 was never released in Europe, fans should have a great time playing this never-before-seen content. Here’s a trailer.
Who else is excited for BioShock Infinite? It’s finally being released today for PS3, XBox 360, and PC tomorrow, but it will soon also be coming to Mac. Aspyr, a Mac game publishing company, is behind this version of the game that will come out this summer.
For those of you nostalgics, Capcom has some great news – they will be bringing DuckTales back for Xbox Live, PSN, and Wii U this summer. The game was first released in 1989 for the Nintendo (and later GameBoy) and the new version will be a remake based on that original version. Watch nearly seven minutes of gameplay here.
Legendary actor Robert Redford is in talks to join the cast of Captain America: The Winter Soldier. He’s being considered for the role of someone in senior leadership at S.H.I.E.L.D., possibly even higher up than Nick Fury. The film will follow Steve Rogers as he navigates the modern world and confronts his past when his old friend Bucky shows up, looking a little different than the last time they saw each other. (Spoiler – if you didn’t know, he comes back as a brainwashed Russian assassin known as The Winter Soldier.) It will be released April 4, 2014.
Doctor Who returns in less than a week with “The Bells of Saint John,” but to tide us over, a clip has been released. Watch it here!
