Have you fallen behind on your nerd news? Don’t worry; we’re here to help! Here are a few stories to bring up at the water cooler this week:

The 12th Doctor has been chosen! Sadly, none of my guesses made the cut, but this weekend the BBC did announce who will take over after Matt Smith leaves. Peter Capaldi has been tapped to play the 12th Doctor, as was revealed in a live special on Sunday. This is not the actor’s first foray into the world of Doctor Who, though. He appeared in the episode “The Fires of Pompeii” alongside Karen Gillan, who was also making her Who debut as the Soothsayer and was later cast as Amy Pond.

It has been confirmed a new Sailor Moon anime will soon premiere. At a 20th anniversary event over the weekend, girl group Momoiro Clover Z announced they will sing the opening and closing credits of the show to stream this winter. The voice cast has not been revealed and it was noted this will not be a remake of the classic series.

The final design has been unveiled in the new Harry Potter paperback covers. When lined up together, the spines of the new covers will create a picture of Hogwarts, plus the box set will include a new picture of Hogsmeade. The covers hit shelves August 27 and are in celebration of the series’ 15th anniversary. Check them all out here!

In September, Bethesda will be releasing The Elder Scrolls: Anthology, a set that includes the complete PC compilation of every Elder Scrolls game. It will cost $79.99 and will also come with five maps detailing all the lands of Tamriel, Iliac Bay, Morrowind, Cyrodiil, and Skyrim.

After first being teased at E3, the development of Fez II has been cancelled. In a statement on Twitter, the game’s creator Phil Fish also expressed a desire to leave the gaming industry. Rumors are swirling that his decision to quit was influenced by the public’s perception of him after he appeared in Indie Game: The Movie and reactions he has received after making many outspoken and controversial tweets.

We are finally getting our first look at Sherlock Series 3! In a teaser trailer just released, the characters are shown to be moving on with their lives after the apparent suicide of Sherlock Holmes, but they will soon be in for a surprise after they learn he survived his jump off St. Bartholomew’s hospital in the series two finale. Watch it here!

Who else is excited for Thor: The Dark World? To increase anticipation, a new poster for the film has just been released. In it, Thor and Jane embrace, Loki looks ever so mischievous, and new baddie Malekith looms menacingly over everyone. And is that Zachary Levi as Fandral I spy in the corner? Thor: The Dark World comes out November 8.
