Have you fallen behind on your nerd news? Don’t worry; we’re here to help! Here are a few stories to bring up at the water cooler this week:

Just call it the Veronica Mars effect: MSN, which is venturing into original programming through Xbox, is looking to relaunch Heroes. The current plan is to include cameos from the original cast, but since many of them are busy with other projects, the new version would concentrate on another group of people affected by the eclipse.

Merle Dixon is back, y’all! Well, sort of. His portrayer, Michael Rooker, has joined the cast of Guardians of the Galaxy as Yondu, a member of the team. Rooker’s friend James Gunn, whom he has previously worked with on Slither and Super, is directing the movie and it will be released August 1, 2014.

Continuing with the tradition of this season, the BBC has released a few more posters teasing upcoming episodes of Doctor Who. The first batch is for the next three episodes, including the Neil Gaiman’s second foray into Who, “Nightmare in Silver.” Posted separately was the one for the finale, “The Name of the Doctor,” which airs on May 18.

A couple of official photos from The Amazing Spider-Man 2 have been released, featuring Jamie Foxx as Max Dillion, aka Electro, and Dane DeHaan as Harry Osborn. Far more interesting, though, were the paparazzi pictures taken of Foxx in full Electro mode. The comic book version of the character has been yellow and green, but his new look is bright blue. The film comes out next year.

During its Nintendo Direct presentation, the company has revealed an all-new Legend of Zelda: A Link the Past, coming to the 3DS this winter. They wanted to incorporate the new software to the classic game so Link will be smashing things and bouncing around, all in 3D. But that’s not the extent of his abilities – he will also be able to turn into a 2D drawing, which will make it easier to escape his enemies.

Couldn’t everyone use more Tom Hiddleston in their life? The Loki actor is rumored to be starring in the reboot of The Crow, a film first released in 1994. He reportedly sent a makeup test he did on his own to producers and also had dinner with them. If he gets the role, filming could start as early as the fall.

A few images from Man of Steel have been released. Check out the slideshow here!
