In a follow-up interview with Comic Book Resources, Greg Berlanti noted that while he is working on a Supergirl TV series, it is not yet being pitched to networks as previously reported.

“We’re just starting to work on it,” Berlanti said. “We haven’t gone to the networks yet, so. I’ll be happy, very excited to talk about it once we know where its home will be and that kind of stuff, but not at this moment.”

We’ll keep you updated as news about the show develops!

Original story as follows:

DC is looking to bring Supergirl to TV for the second time in a decade. However, unlike Laura Vandervoort’s guest appearances on Smallville, this time the character also known as Kara Zor-El would be headlining her own show.

According to Deadline, Arrow and The Flash executive producer Greg Berlanti would team with writer/producer Ali Adler, known for her work on The New Normal and Chuck, to create the show. DC’s Geoff Johns is also expected to have a role in its development.

The show’s announcement comes during a time when comic book adaptations are ruling the airwaves. Not only was Smallville a success, but Arrow has picked up fandom momentum and new fall entry The Flash is getting great buzz. Other DC Comic titles on TV include Fox’s Gotham, NBC’s Constantine, and The CW’s iZombie. On the Marvel side of things, ABC has Agents of SHIELD and Agent Carter.

The project is said to be a new interpretation of Supergirl and will be pitched to networks in the next couple of weeks.
