Special Announcement from Nerd HQ

Separator

As many of you know, every single year here at Nerd HQ, we try to not only present you with “Nerd HQ: The Event” in San Diego during Comic-Con, we try to make it as excellent as we can. Every year we’ve been able to figure out a way to be able to provide that to you guys. Unfortunately this year, we have to announce to you that we are not able to do Nerd HQ in San Diego during Comic-Con in 2017.

To Zach and Crew of Nerd HQ,

I just wanted to leave a message to say that I went last year to Nerd HQ when I was there for ComiCon and enjoyed Nerd HQ way more. It was more interactive and thought the panels were fantastic. Also, the interaction Zachary has with the fans at the after parties was the best. I got to meet him and the after party and made my whole trip were it being a Chuck fan. I think a lot of fans and people would pay to go to Nerd HQ. I know keeping it free makes it more meaningful to fans, but after last year I would pay to go to Nerd HQ. I think with what Zachary does for his charity and with all of the cost that goes into hosting the event many people would not mind paying a small cost for the event. I think $25 for a 4 day pass is worth it. You can have access to everything, even the after party if you pay the 4 day pass cost. You could even offer individual day passes. And then charge for just the after party if you don’t have a badge. I know in my mind and heart that true fans of Zachary Levi and his causes would pay for a fantastic event that they could enjoy. I would definitely pay to come to the event again and plan to come again in the future if everything works for Nerd HQ to be successful once again.

You’re awesome and the people you work with have always been awesome from my, admittedly biased, view. I look forward to SDCC and am glad that you’ll be a part of it once again. I hope everything goes well and you’re able to bring your baby back next year. 🙂

Was going to try and go to NerdHQ this year for the first time, but i also completely understand that sometimes things do not work out. I’ll be looking forward to the next time you are able to do it! Also with what one of the comments on here said, i do not think the fans would mind paying a bit for a pass to attend, i am sure it could help a lot with the cost of everything. Thanks Zac!

First off thank you for all the wonderful experiences that you have given us in the past years. I cant even begin to tell you how important Nerd HQ has been to my comic con experience and honestly I look forward to it more than time spent on the convention floor. It has and always will be the highlight of my comic con experience and you all have been there since my first comic-con. I sincerely hope that you are able to bring this baby of your back in coming years and hope that you allow your fellow nerds to help in whatever way that we can. Thank you so much for all the effort and work that you have put into this amazing and wonderful experience every year and thank you for providing us con goers with an happy positive place to spend time with fellow nerds, make friends, and have a fun time dancing. Thank you for all you, and your amazing team have done for us!

Very sad you are not at SDCC this year! Hope y’all do something for Comic Kaze in LA!! Love your events at SDCC – they are my favorite and very well put together!

Zac, et al. – Really sorry to hear you’ve run into difficulties trying to make Nerd HQ happen this year – I’m sure you gave it your all. It’s always been a great thing with solid heart and for a good cause; and also a good counterbalance to SDCC. I continue to support whatever activations or other activities you and the team come up with. And, as always, I’m happy to cover Nerd HQ-related news as press over on ComicMix.com. Keep in touch!

Thank you to team Nerd HQ for organizing an awesome event every year for such a great cause. I’m sorry you guys will not be at SDCC this year. I look forward to going to Nerd HQ every year since you started. I hope you will be able to bring it back next year.
P.S. I agree with the comments posted. I won’t mind paying to attend Nerd HQ.

You guys rock. Period. New NHQ adventures to come. I’ll second the first comment, and say it’s worth paying for, and at $150-200, not $25… and let the events and Nathan Fillion’s bags pay for new smiles around the world as a result.

omg, you are so great, thanks for this message and thanks for trying!

Nerd HQ is awesome. You’ve brought together a diverse family of nerdom (?) where we all love and respect each each other and enjoy each other’s gifts and talents. I would gladly pay to support this and it’s so great that you and your staff are continuing despite setbacks. Keep up the good work!

Love Nerd HQ as it’s my gateway to some of the fun of SDCC while I live far away in Germany.

You & your team continue to do an amazing job and while I’m very sad that it wasn’t possibly this year, I am immensely grateful to you all for all that you have done previously.

If it helps at all, set up a virtual tip jar so those of us who stream the sessions can throw something your way / to the charity, to help with the future.

Figure it’s about time for Comic Con again this year, so I decided to check up on one of my favorite events only to find out that NerdHQ won’t be happening. That’s really too bad because you guys do really awesome work. With that said, I have to admit that this announcement is pretty disappointing, not just the fact that you weren’t able to do NerdHQ this year, but the lack of transparency as to the why. Is it the funding, the venue, the hosting, the guests or something else? I know you guys don’t owe us anything, but I have always thought NerdHQ has a pretty good relationship with its fans, and in this day and age of crowd funding, people can contribute even if they won’t be there in person. Then again maybe it’s not a money issue, but we really don’t know because you skirted around without actually saying what the problem is, and that is really too bad.

First things first. Thank you for the many years you have devoted to Conversations For A Cause. While I have not been able to attend in person, I have viewed many of the panels online and you always gave everything to running these events (as did all of the staff that worked it with you).

I was so looking forward to this year because I get to catch up with various casts of some of my favourite shows. The actors seemed looser and more relaxed and forthright at your events. There was also, more time for questions from the audience at your events to allow for more interesting dialogue.

I am sorry that there will be no events this year and while dissapointed (to the extreme), I truly appreciate all of your efforts from years gone past.

All the best to you and yours!

i am positive that this announcement comes with a heavy heart but I want to sincerely thank the NerdHQ family for entertaining the masses year after year. And more importantly changing countless lives with your generosity and commitment to philanthropy.

  16. JasonJuly 20th, 2017 at 1:48 pm

Do one in NY/NJ doing the NY Comic Con.

  17. Sean YustatJuly 21st, 2017 at 5:19 pm

If it is funding, launch a kickstarter or indigogo. I’d pay even though I’d not be able to attend, just to have access to the conversations for a cause content.
