Paul McCartney Releases Music Video for Destiny Song

Paul McCartney may be a former Beatle, which obviously makes him cool for life, but it’s his grandkids who know what’s hip. When he was asked to write a song for the video game Destiny, McCartney didn’t know what it was – he had never even heard of Halo. After getting assurance from his family that Destiny, a game from the creators of Halo, would be a hit, he got on board and wrote “Hope for the Future.”

Though the game has now been out a while and players have heard the song, the music video has only just been released. In it, McCartney appears as a hologram and is beamed to various Destiny locales by the game’s AI companion, Ghost.

McCartney also helped produce the soundtrack for Destiny with composers Marty O’Donnell and Mike Salvatori. The project was recorded over four years in New York, Los Angeles, and London’s Abbey Road studio. McCartney even used a tape-loop machine he last used on Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band.
