Original BioShock Coming to iOS Later This Summer

The Rapture is going mobile – that is, BioShock publisher 2K announced the game is coming to iOS this summer.

It will be a “premium priced mobile game” and is said to be a faithful port of the first. It will have an optimized touch screen for those who want to use those controls but also support Made for iPhone Bluetooth controllers which will make it feel closer to the 2007 game. However, because decreases had to be made to fit the lesser hardware and fit within Apple’s 2 GB limit, the textures, lighting and shadows, and sound are reportedly a step down in quality from the original but aren’t said to affect the overall feel. (For example, little things like fog have been removed.)

The game is being created by 2K China, the same team that successfully brought XCOM: Enemy Unknown to iOS.

The mobile version will be compatible with iPhone 5S, iPhone 5C, iPhone 5, iPad Air, iPad Mini 2 and iPad 4. No exact release date has been revealed yet.
