Granger Leadership Academy: An Inaugural Conference Inspired by Harry Potter’s Leading Lady

The Harry Potter Alliance has announced the creation of the Granger Leadership Academy, a conference that seeks to teach people leadership skills (not unlike those demonstrated by Hermione Granger herself in the Harry Potter series) and to help them learn more about the HPA’s brand of fan activism.

The conference is designed for HPA chapters, though anyone can participate. It will be held Oct. 17 – 19 in Auburn, Ala. and costs $50. According to the website, it “is designed to bring our greatest leaders together in one place and allow them to establish strong connections with each other, share ideas, learn from our talented Chapters Staff, and emerge well-equipped to lead their community to a more just and magical future.”

At the Granger Leadership Academy, attendees will enjoy two keynote speakers, leadership training workshops, community-building activities, and several special guest presentations. There will even be a wizard rock dance party on Saturday night.

The HPA says it hopes everyone will walk away from the conference “the heroes of their own narrative.”
