Getting a Glimpse: The Resident

Just as one medical drama takes its leave from FOX, another takes its place. The Resident is a new series coming to the network this 2017-2018 television season, and you can get a glimpse of what’s to come right here!

Written and created by Amy Holden (Black Box), Hayley Schore, and Roshan Sethi, the hour-long episodes of The Resident look to be infused with drama and action. Coming from production company Fuqua Films (along with 3 Arts Entertainment and 20th Century Fox Television), an intense story is to be expected. The Resident will follow talented senior resident Conrad Hawkins (Matt Czuchry) as he takes young and idealistic new doctor, Devon Pravesh (Manish Dayal) under his wing. Pravesh soon learns that the knowledge he gained in medical school may not be the reality of modern-day medicine, for better or worse.

Take a look at the trailer yourself right here:

The Resident is executively produced by Antoine Fuqua (Southpaw), Philip Noyce (who also directed the series pilot), Oly Obst, and David Boorstein. The Atlanta-filmed pilot earned the series a season order in May 2017 and stars Czurchry (The Good Wife), Dayal (90210), Bruce Greenwood (Star Trek) as Dr. Solomon Bell, Emily VanCamp (Captain America: The Winter Soldier) as nurse Nicolette, Shaunette Wilson (Billions) as Mina Okafor, and Valerie Cruz (Nip/Tuck) as Renata Lopez.

The tense and drama-filled FOX show isn’t going to be their version of Scrubs. The Resident promises to be a serious take on the medical series genre. Are you on board with the new series or will you get your fill of medical dramas elsewhere?
