Getting a Glimpse: CBS’s Salvation

Summer is not known to be an exciting time in television, with reruns filling the airwaves on many channels. But CBS has a summer suspense drama to entertain the masses while they wait for the fall season premieres. Created by writers Liz Kruger and Craig Shapiro, Salvation is the one to watch this summer!

Originally announced to be in development in September 2013, October 2016 brought Salvation a rare and coveted straight-to-series order with CBS for a 13-episode season. With the pilot executively produced and directed by Juan Carlos Fresnadillo (28 Weeks Later), Salvation promises to be a deeply intense and powerful show. CBS Entertainment President Glenn Miller has said of the show, “Salvation is the type of fast-paced, dramatic ride that viewers look for in a summer event series. We’re excited to launch another high-concept, highly promotable show with great auspices that adds to our roster of year-round, original scripted programming.”

What does that fast-paced and dramatic ride entail for viewers? Salvation looks to be the Armageddon of 2017 television, focusing on the peril surrounding an asteroid set to hit Earth in six months. MIT grad student Liam Cole (Charlie Rowe) and technology superstar Darius Tanz (Santiago Cabrera) bring the news of the discovered asteroid to low-level Pentagon official Grace Darrow (Jennifer Finnigan). Also starring Jacqueline Byers, Ian Anthony Dale, Shazi Raja, and Rachel Drance, Salvation brings the danger level up to eleven with the fate of the planet in jeopardy!

Salvation is slated to premiere on July 12, 2017 at 9pm ET/PT on CBS. Are you excited for it or are you afraid no asteroid will ever live up to the monster taken down by Bruce Willis and his drilling team?
