After much speculation, Walt Disney World has announced they are bringing a Frozen attraction to Epcot. The park’s Maelstrom ride, located in the Norway pavilion, will be renovated into a ride based on the world of Arendelle found in the film.

“I’m pleased to say that we’re starting construction at Walt Disney World Resort on a brand new ‘Frozen’ attraction at the Norway Pavilion in Epcot,” wrote Tom Staggs in a release on the Disney Parks Blog. “The new attraction, which replaces Maelstrom, will take our guests to Arendelle and immerse them in many of their favorite moments and music from the film.”

The pavilion will include a meet-and-greet area for Anna and Elsa, too.

It was also revealed Frozen’s characters will have a bigger presence in the park this holiday season. Anna, Elsa, Kristoff, and Olaf will join Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime Parade, a show that is part of Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, during select nights of Nov. 7 – Dec. 19, 2014. This parade is offered daily Dec. 21 – 30, 2014 as well.

In addition to their ongoing character appearances, Anna and Elsa will perform in a new show on the Castle Forecourt Stage at the heart of Magic Kingdom Park starting Nov. 5. Plus, Elsa will use her powers to transform Cinderella Castle into a frozen ice palace for the holidays.

Furthermore, Disney will extend Frozen Summer Fun LIVE! through the end of the year so guests can continue singing along to their favorite songs with Anna and Elsa.

The last day for guests to ride Maelstrom will be Oct. 5, 2014. After that, construction will begin on the Frozen ride, which is expected to be completed in early 2016.
