Doctor Who: Check Out the First Trailer for Peter Capaldi’s Last Season

A new chapter of Doctor Who will soon begin. From Peter Capaldi’s departure to a new companion, the series will look different before we know it. Prior to those big changes, though, the show has released a trailer for the upcoming tenth season and it promises to be an eventful one.

Though previous teaser trailers have introduced new companion Bill (Pearl Mackie) and concentrated on the peril one faces when traveling with The Doctor, this new, full-length trailer focuses on the action they will encounter, including shape-shifting Daleks and…an emoji robot? Sure, let’s go with that.

The Doctor and Bill won’t be traversing time and space alone. Joining them is Nardole (Matt Lucas), who has previously only appeared in a couple of Christmas specials. And of course the cast wouldn’t be complete without the return of Michelle Gomez’s Missy.

Not only will season ten be Capaldi’s last, but showrunner Steven Moffat is leaving as well. Broadchurch’s Chris Chibnall will replace him in season 11.

Season ten of Doctor Who premieres Saturday, April 15 at 9/8c on BBC America. Check out the trailer and a pretty new poster below. Are you ready to say goodbye to Capaldi (or Moffat for that matter)?
