Cosplay at 2015 SDCC and Nerd HQ

By Jaime Whittaker

There are many reasons to attend San Diego Comic Con and any of the offsite events such as Nerd HQ. One of the things I look forward to seeing every year is the cosplay. As a cosplayer myself, I understand the time, effort, and heart that goes into making a cosplay just right and then having to survive in the San Diego heat in said cosplay. It takes some commitment, sweat (okay lots and lots of sweat!), and love. Cosplay is not merely an excuse to play dress-up (who really needs an excuse to do that?), for some it is a way of life. Speaking from experience, many people start planning out their cosplay a year or at the very least several months in advance (I am already planning mine for next year!). I was able to catch many great cosplays myself, among them are the following:

Picture 2

Carol from The Walking Dead

Picture 3

Adidas Boombox Red Stormtrooper

Picture 4

Silent Hill Nurse (the sign behind her just adds to the image)

Picture 5

Rapunzel and Flynn Ryder

Picture 6

Gaige from Borderlands 2

Picture 7

Red Power Ranger

Picture 8

Hell Girl

Picture 9

This cosplay, my own Daenarys Targaryan, was taken by Nerdy Cruz

The next two images were taken by Chuck Cook

Picture 10

Steampunk Disney, featuring my friends and I!

Picture 11

Loki (I mean come on, I had to do a double take on that one!)

Michelle from Nerdy Gras and Roni couldn’t resist taking a photo with the great Tenth Doctor!

Hey look, it’s our buddy LonsterMash as Wolverine!

And the last batch of images come from SuperHero Hype

Suicide Squad Harley Quinn has been a popular one

Picture 15

Female Titan from Attack on Titan

There were so many amazing cosplays on display this year! It never ceases to amaze me how awesome and creative the nerd community can be. Until next time, stay nerdy my friends ~
