Converse to Release New, More Comfortable Chuck Taylors

What would Chuck be without his Chucks? Thankfully we won’t have to find out. Converse is updating their classic shoes for the first time in 98 years, but just the inside; they’ll still look the same on the outside. Whew!

The company is merging the exterior with a new cushioned interior designed by Nike, with the hopes of making the shoe more comfortable. Called the Chuck II, it will feature an insole with the Lunarlon technology available in many of Nike’s athletic and casual sneakers. The shoe wills also weigh less than the current Chucks. Other minor changes include a non-slip tongue, perforated suede liner to increase breathability, and an embroidered All Star logo.

The new Chucks will also cost more than the originals. High-tops will now be $75 and low tops will sell for $70. Four colors will be available: black, blue, red, and white. They go on sale Tuesday, July 28.
