Bring It On: Star Wars 1313

by Britt Franklin

Not much has been revealed yet, but The Nerd Machine team lucked out and snagged a first-look at upcoming action game, Star Wars 1313. Set between the two trilogies, 1313 introduces a new group of characters within the Star Wars universe and uses a form of gameplay unseen in previous releases from LucasArts, but is already being compared to the style found in Naughty Dog’s Uncharted series.

1313 is one of over 5,000 levels on the Imperial capital, Coruscant, and it happens to be the one hosting the shadier individuals on the planet. Though a darker and more mature title than earlier Star Wars game releases, don’t expect gore for the sake of gore. Any intense scenes will be necessary to the overall plot, which is one of many things fans will have to wait to find out—even the main character is unnamed.

From the official Star Wars 1313 press release:

Named for Level 1313, a ruthless criminal underground deep below the surface of the planet of Coruscant, the game puts players in control of a deadly bounty hunter as he uses an arsenal of exotic weaponry to hunt down his marks and uncover the truth surrounding a criminal conspiracy. Star Wars 1313 emphasizes epic set pieces and fast-paced combat with a hero who uses human skills and gadgets, rather than supernatural Force powers, to make his way through this dangerous world.

“We’re excited to share one of the projects LucasArts has been hard at work developing,” said Paul Meegan, President, LucasArts. “Star Wars 1313 dives into a part of the Star Wars mythos that we’ve always known existed, but never had a chance to visit. We are committed to bringing the best gameplay experience and visual fidelity to life and I truly believe the work we are showcasing at E3 will speak for itself.”

For now, there’s no set release date for the cinematic Star Wars 1313, but it looks promising. Check out some game footage below:

Meh give me a SW game where I can play using Darth Talon then I will be excited…This game doesn’t look to be any better than ME3 or something along those lines, I mean a game without the force just seems un-Star Wars, but a new direction in this expanded universe is not bad either.

Looks good, but am I the only one who thinks that the combat system is exactly like in Mass Effect (2 and 3)? Even some of the sound effects seem the same.

Hello, I’m Italian, I think the video will herald a good game, the melee combat system is similar to that which was used in Splinter Cell Conviction, and as you move from cover to another can be immediately think of Gears of War.
