A Fan’s Guide to “Picking Favorites”: Episode 58, Favorite Picking Favorites

By Shannon Fox, @shannonfox

Now it’s time to say goodbye to all our com-puh-neeee…

Well, folks, after over a year and 58 episodes, we’ve reached the end of “Picking Favorites”.  We’ve had a good run, right?  And hey! It looks like the guys will be back in some form soon with a TNM-run podcast/videocast in the future, so all isn’t lost.  But for now, we say goodbye to our boys with some reminiscing and mushiness.

You can find this week’s episode on iTunes and Soundcloud.

Favorite Episodes

If “Picking Favorites” was a TV show, this would be the point where they’d have a montage of a bunch of moments from the show with a super sad song in the background.  But since it’s not REALLY good-bye, listen to THIS as you’re going through this topic, just for kicks.  And I’ll just wait over here for a freeze-frame fist pump picture from the guys, okay?

Random Notes from Shannon’s Brain

  • This week’s winner of the “Hey, You’re Awesome” Award is… EVERYONE! And I mean everyone- Kentucky, Tyler, Razzle, Zac, and YOU guys!  YOU ARE ALL SUPER AWESOME!
  • I DEFINITELY CRIED AT LEAST TWICE DURING THIS EPISODE BECAUSE I’M A DOOFUS.  That being said, if you take anything away from these recaps, I’d like it to be the following: Kentucky, Razzle, Zac, and Tyler are all adorable baby animals.  That is all.
  • I mean, Adam Baldwin is a very intimidating man.  I think we can all admit that, right?
  • I think it’s just perfect that we got one last nickname for Kentucky, courtesy of his wife Courtney: “Stonewall Jackson”.  So that makes him “Kentucky ‘Murica DumpStar Stonewall Jackson”.  And we should all refer him to him as NOTHING LESS.
  • I also think it’s perfect that we got one last poop joke from Tyler, and a mention of Batman from Razzle.  This is what we’re here for, guys.
  • I feel like MAYBE it was a little dangerous to mention a possible “Chuck” podcast-y thing from Zac and Yvonne.  I am one of you and I love you, “Chuck” fans, but if I know you like I think I do, I’ll be seeing a lot of “WHERE IS THE PODCAST-Y THING?!?!?” tweets in the near future.  Passion, guys.  You haz it.

That’s it for this week’s recap! Remember to subscribe to and rate the podcast on iTunes, and send YOUR favorites to @thenerdmachine on Twitter with the hashtag “#PickingFavorites”!

You can find our hosts all over social media:

Tyler: Twitter, Facebook

As a final note, I just want to say a huge thank you to all of you that have read my recaps of the podcast, left comments, and chatted with me about the show on Twitter.  It has been so fun and total honor to be a part of “Picking Favorites”!  Another ginormous thank you, of course, to Dave, Razzle, Zac, and Tyler for giving me this opportunity in the first place, and being so super cool and supportive throughout the entire experience.  I love those guys, they’re the best!

This is your Official “Picking Favorites” recapper, signing out… for now!

Thanks for the recap Shannon! Awesome as always. I’m gonna miss Picking Favorites & your recaps but look forward to what the guys & TNM have in store for us.

Love you guys SO MUCH! Thanks for a wonderful year of laughs & silliness.

    Onward & upward. God Bless

Yay for the awesome, amazing Shanster!!!!!! However, I’m a little disappointed Zac tossed out there the “semi-reveal” on the cryptic “Chuck” reference he and Yvonne made, because now I have to come up with ANOTHER somewhat intelligent informed question to ask him (and Yvonne) at NerdHQ this year. I don’t think “What’s your favorite color?” qualifies….

  3. JayneFebruary 17th, 2016 at 11:05 am

Thanks everyone… And especially you Shannon. Love your recaps, and you, very much!

  4. KatieFebruary 17th, 2016 at 1:05 pm

Yeah, I’ll admit, I was tweeting about a Chuck-cast SECONDS after I hear it come out of Zac’s mouth. I’m on board. BUT, I also have patience. Not much, but some. Enough I suppose to see if this is something that gets off the ground. I would love for it to happen, but won’t hate ’em if it can’t.

Thanks again for the 58 episode recaps of my favorite (only) podcast. You did a fantastic job!

  5. BeaFebruary 17th, 2016 at 4:36 pm

Shannon, from the bottom of my heart, thank you for the recaps! I loved them as much as the podcast.
Okay. I need to be a little sad right now.
